Recently I inherited some of my Grandma and Grandpa’s belongings. This year marks the end of an era at the Van Over house. All that is left are memories and a few items from their house. They were wonderful Grandparents! I loved them both so much!
My Grandma was the BEST cook in the world! She made everything from stratch. No store bought boxes at her house. So, I knew I wanted a few kitchen items to remember my Grandma and her cooking. One of those items was a old hand cranked flour sifter.
I wanted to come up with an idea to display this flour sifter instead of sticking it in the back of a cabinet never to see it again. I thought of using it as a planter would be great! Now, every time I walk into the kitchen and see this sifter I am reminded of my amazing Grandma.
First I placed a coffee filter in the bottom of the sifter. This allows the soil and water to be caught and from leaking everywhere.
Next, I just add some soil and placed a nice green plant into the dirt. I chose a plant called Exotic Angel. The tag says that is is easy to grow, which is good because I do not have a green thumb.
I tied some Raffia around the sifter to make a bow and added a chalkboard tag. The tag was made by placing a chalkboard sticker onto a piece of card stock and tapping it to a wooden skewer. Then I just wrote the word Inspire on the tag with a chalk marker.
This is a great reminder and memento of my Grandma.
Thanks for letting me share this with you!

I love that idea. A great way to use something that is special for you. I suppose you could also use it for fake plants to put on the overheads in the kitchen (cupboards) . I will try this myself as I do have one of those. Thanks for the great idea
