With Fall just around the corner and thinking about all the yummy treats, I wanted to make some cute treat bags to give to friends and family. I love how organic and handmade these treat bags look. Now a days it seems everything is store bought or made with some type of ‘machine’. These treat bags are easy and cost next to nothing to make!
Materials I used are:
- Brown paper bag
- Ink pad
- Synthetic Wine cork
- Baker’s Twine
- Felt stickers
- Paper Punch
- Washi Tape
- Scissors
First I started by cutting the length of two brown paper bags. They were a bit too long and needed to be trimmed. I bought 100 of these bags at Target for under $2! Let’s just say I will be making lots of crafts with brown paper bags.
Then I took a synthetic wine cork and used it as a stamp. I dabbed the cork into two different fall color ink pads. One is red and the other gold. I chose to use a synthetic wine cork instead of a natural cork because it is denser and makes for a better stamp. I love the pattern the cork makes on the bags. It’s not a perfect circle and that’s what I like about it.
Next, I took my EK Tools | Swiss Cheese Edger Punch along the edges of the open of the paper bags. This just adds a little something extra to spruce things up a bit.
I then embellished the bags by tying a piece of Baker’s Twine around the bag twice, tying it in a knot. Then I add a apple and pumpkin felt sticker over the knot.
The last thing I did was fill the bags with some Taffy I got at the State Fair and closing the bag using Washi Tape.
This was a fun, easy and inexpensive way to give a gift to others!

Hi Katie,
These bags look so fancy! I just bought a multicolor ink pad for another craft project so I will be using it for trying this project. I like giving treats out as well and want something fancier than a sandwich bag! Thank you for sharing it!
