Hello Friends! How fun and colorful are these Pom-Pom Pens?! I recently bought a pom-pom maker for gift wrapping and one day I was browsing the Anthropologie website and came across these cute pom-pom colored pencils.
First off let me say that Anthro has some ah-mazing things but kinda pricey. I thought to myself that I had all the materials already in my stash at home to make this craft project. So, this was FREE!!!
I don’t used colored pencils that often but I do use an ink pen every single day. How many of you have pens that you have received from your bank or insurance co. or how about your car dealership? I have TONS of free pens like that laying around and I thought this would be a great way to ‘fancy’ them up a bit.
Materials needed:
- Ink pen (free is the best)
- Yarn
- Twine
- Mod Podge
- Foam sponge
- Scissors
- Pom-Pom maker
First I started by pulling off the clip. No need for that. Then I wrapped a piece of colored yarn around the bottom of the pen. I made a tail and wrapped the yarn around it about 1/3 up the pen.
Then I did the same thing using the twine. Leave a small tail then wrap the twine up the remaining of the pen. I covered the end of the twine with Mod Podge to glue it down in place.
Then I took a different color piece of yarn and made a pom-pom. I have tried making pom-poms with a fork, ruler, you name it. Trust me, go out and buy a pom-pom maker. This one is less than $8 at Hobby Lobby and you can use your 40% off coupon. You will save yourself a lot of wasted time and yarn.
I just tied the pom-pom around the clicker and add some Mod Podge to secure it in place. That’s it. Make sure you don’t glue the clicker! Just let the Mod Podge dry before using. My daughter was begging to use it as soon as I finished.
