Recently I made some bookmarks using Project Life Journaling Cards. They were such a big hit I thought I would make some for Father’s Day. These Dapper Bookmarks for Dad are quirky and manly. The scrapbook paper pad I used to make these bookmarks is called Glasses Staches & Ties. Super fun for any man.
My husband has a BA in History so of course he’s an avid reader. He’s definitely into mustaches and big wheel bikes but won’t admit being a hipster. He says that he was into that stuff long before it was cool. Anyway, I thought I would make him these easy bookmarks for Father’s Day.
MATERIALS:
- Scrapbook paper
- Twine
- Pencil
- Hole punch
- Corner rounder punch
- Paper cutter
- Scissors
- Stamp and ink pad *optional
- Stickers *optional
I started by marking my scrapbook paper 3 ” x 4″ with a pencil. Then I cut the paper with a paper cutter. The paper pad I used is from The Paper Studio and called Glasses Staches & Ties. I bought the small 4.5″ x 6.5″ pad but they also have a large 12′ x 12′ one too. There’s also bowling, hammers and fishing paper, so it has something for just about every guy.
Next, I used a corner rounder punch and punched all four corners of the cut piece of scrapbook paper. I just like how the rounded corners look. It’s a bit more interesting than plan square corners.
I made a hole using a large hole punch in the top center of the bookmark.
Then I tied a piece of jute twine through the hole punch and made a knot. I also used striped twine. I like to mix things up a bit. You could even use fishing line if you wanted to. That would be fun.
I added a bicycle stamp with black ink and a manly mustache sticker just to give the bookmarks some added flair. If you like the scrapbook paper you have, you can simply add any additional embellishments.
It’s a super easy Father’s Day craft project for the kids to make just in time for dad’s special day!
They would also be a great guys gift for occasions like wedding showers or birthdays.
