Today I am sharing my Pomegranate Sugar Scrub. The fruity smell is amazing and the scrub leaves your skin feeling soft and smooth. This would make a great homemade gift idea too!
Recently I made a pomegranate lime spritzer and had some pomegranate juice left over. So, I thought I would make a sugar scrub using the juice and it turned out fanatic! I plan on giving these scrubs to my family but secretly I want to keep them for myself. I love the pink color and the smell from the oil is just yummy. You almost want to eat it, it’s that good.
All you need are a few ingredients to make the sugar scrub. Start by adding 2 cups of granulated sugar into a large bowl. Add 1/4 cup of coconut oil. The coconut oil is what makes your skin soft and smooth. Plus, there are many healthy benefits to using coconut oil. Then, add 4 Tablespoons of fresh pomegranate juice. I used natural juice instead of food coloring because of it’s natural benefits, plus food coloring can stain your skin. Lastly, add a few drops of pomegranate essential oil, until you reach the smell you desire. My local co-op did not have pomegranate essential oil, so I ordered mine from Amazon HERE. Mix everything together until well combined.
To package the scrub for gifts, I purchased a few 70 ml glass jars at my local craft store. This recipe will fill approximately three 70 ml jars. I found some pretty pink and red scrapbook paper and twine. I used a 1 1/2 inch round circle punch to cut out circles from the scrapbook paper. Then I used adhesive tape to attach the paper to the tops of the jar lids. I added some pink twine around the rims of the lids to finish off the gifts. I think they look super cute.
Apply the scrub to your hands, feet and body. You can leave the scrub next to the sink for your hands or place in the shower and use as an exfoliate to your body. This is how I like to use and make my sugar scrub but you can always change the measurements and ingredients to your liking.
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup coconut oil
- 4 Tablespoons fresh pomegranate juice
- few drops of pomegranate essential oil
- Add the sugar and coconut oil into a large bowl. Mix until well combined. If coconut oil is too hard, heat in the microwave in a safe bowl 15-25 seconds or until the oil is softened
- Add the pomegranate juice and essential oil until the juice is evenly distributed and the texture is to your liking
- Spoon scrub into an air tight container or gift jars. Decorate with scrapbook paper and twine.
The brand of pomegranate essential oil I used was Enteral Essence Oil.

Katie, this scrub looks good enough to eat and I bet it smells amazing! I adore pomegranates so it might be a little dangerous keeping this by the tub since I’d want to eat the whole thing 🙂 Thanks for sharing on The Makers!

Hi!
How long is the durability of these?
The Casual Craftlete says
If you keep it free of moisture, it should last a couple of months.
