Easy Cold Brew Coffee Recipe – learn how to make the prefect iced coffee at home with just a few simple steps! No special equipment needed.
Hello there! It’s no surprise that I am sharing an Easy Cold Brew Coffee recipe. I love coffee in all different kinds of ways. Have you ever heard of cold brew? If you have, have you tried it? This method of making coffee is pretty much the best, easiest, and cheapest way of making iced coffee. Cold brew requires no special equipment and has a smoother and better tasting quality than regular iced coffee. Plus, you can keep it in your refrigerator for up to one week which saves time and money.
This easy cold brew coffee recipe starts out with your favorite coffee grounds. You can buy store-bought grounds, or whole beans and grind them either in the store or at home. You will need 2/3 cup of fresh coffee grounds. Flavored coffee grounds will work too. Just place the grounds inside a large glass container that has a lid.
Next, you will need the second and last ingredient in this cold brew, 3 cups of water. Pour the water over the grounds and stir really well with a spoon. Cover the jar and refrigerate for up to 12 hours. The longer the better. This should make approximately 2 cups of cold brew coffee.
Once it has time to “brew” now you just need to strain it. I use a mesh strainer over a large measuring cup. Then I discard the grounds into the trash once all of the liquid has passed through the strainer. I then strain it a second time by place the strainer over the glass jar I used to brew the coffee (after I rinsed it out) only this time I placed a coffee filter (or you can use a cheesecloth) inside the strainer and pour the brew back into the glass jar.
After the cold brew is strained, dilute it to your liking. I enjoy my cold coffee on the strong side, so I usually don’t dilute the concentrate. If you don’t like your coffee that strong, you can use 1/2 cup concentrate to 1/4 cup of water. Just play around with the concentrate to water ratio until you get it to your liking. Now, that the easy cold brew coffee is done, you can add your favorite milk, cream and sweeteners. I like to use almond milk myself. Cold brew is generally sweeter than traditional iced coffee. Brewing brings out the fruity notes of the coffee.
- 2/3 cup course coffee grounds
- 3 cups cold water
- Add coffee grounds inside a large glass jar that has a lid. Pour the cold water on top of the grounds. Stir to combine. Cover, and refrigerate for at least 12 hours (or up to 24 hours).
- Remove the jar, and place a strainer over a large measuring cup or bowl. Pour the brew over the strainer, and wait until the liquid has filtered through the strainer. Discard the grounds. Place the strainer lined with a coffee filter or cheesecloth over the glass jar that was in the refrigerator. Pour the brew into the jar for the second time.
- Serve the coffee over ice, and enjoy. If you prefer less strong coffee, stir in 1/2 cup concentrate to 1/4 water to dilute the coffee. Add your favorite milk, cream or sugar to your liking.
- Refrigerate the remaining coffee concentrate in a well sealed container for up to 1 week.
Hope you enjoy my easy cold brew coffee recipe and remember to make it your own. Cheers!
