Hello there! Today, I am very excited to share these adorable DIY Mini Trinket Boxes with you. I am such a sucker for cute storage and organization holders. These boxes are so very simple to make and would even be a fun craft for kids. All you need are a few inexpensive materials to create your own custom trinket boxes. Some of the items I like to place in these mini boxes are smaller jewelry items and office supplies such as paper clips and thumbtacks. But, really you can put anything small you would like inside these boxes. I also thought that this would be a easy craft to make for Mother’s Day. Wouldn’t mom love to receive a piece of sparkly jewelry in a handmade box?!
Supplies: (affiliate links)
- Americana Multi-Surface Satin 2 oz Paint in Soft Jade, Lemon Zest, Shrimp and Cotton Ball
- Mini paper mache boxes – round, oval
- Clear glass flower knobs
- Paint brushes
Instructions:
First, I started by painting both the round and oval mini paper mache boxes using Americana multi-surface paint in cotton ball. I applied two coats of the white paint using a small foam brush to the inside and outside of the boxes and lids.
Next, I used a small paint brush to apply brush strokes to the outside of the boxes and lids using the colors, lemon zest, shrimp, and soft jade. These three colors are one of my favorite color combinations. They are bright and cheery for spring and summer. I also painted the rims of the boxes and lids in the shrimp color for contrast.
Finally, I used a drill bit that was the same size as the screw on the knob to easily drill a hole through the center of the box lids. If you don’t have a drill, you could use a ice pick, scissors or something sharp to make a hole. Then, just screw the knobs onto the lids.
I love love love how these DIY Mini Trinket Boxes turned out! They are just perfect for small items.
