Enjoy the warm smells of the season with this easy Fall Simmering Stove Top Potpourri. This is perfect for filling your house with the scent of autumn.
Hello there! Today, I am sharing an easy way to make a Fall Simmering Stove Top Potpourri. This potpourri mixture is a blend of aromas that smell like a warm crisp fall day. I like to make this potpourri and let is simmer on the stove top all day long. The scents fill my whole house with the warmth and richness of the ingredients. Trust me, you are going to want to make this soon and it makes for a great gift idea too. You can fill a mason jar with the potpourri and add a gift tag for a fall gift.
This Fall Simmering Stove Top Potpourri is a blend of warm spices, dried herbs, and fresh orange peel. I absoultly love this mixture of ingredients for the fall time. If you love the smell of cinnamon, you are going to love it too. The surprise ingredient in this potpourri is dried bay leaves. The leaves really just add so much depth to this stove top potpourri.
In a small sauce pot I add 2 to 3 star anise, which has a licorice scent, 3 cinnamon sticks, 3 to 5 dried bay leaves, 1 tablespoon ground cloves, and the peel from 1 orange. Fill the pot to the top with water. Place the pot on the stove over very low heat. On my gas stove you can’t even see a flame. The potpourri will come to a simmering boil and let it go until all of the water has evaporated. You can continue to fill the pot with water and let it simmer on the stove all day.
I can’t say enough good things about this Fall Simmering Stove Top Potpourri. It is by far my favorite blend and it smells so amazing. Hope you enjoy the smells of fall with this DIY potpourri!
