Hello there! Today, I am updating my home decor and I made these Floral Decoupage Decorative Balls for my living. I used paper napkins with a beautiful floral print. This DIY decor is so easy to make and you can customize it to fit in your home. I love how they turned out!
If you can’t tell, I am obsessed with the Liberty of London Betsy pattern. This floral pattern is so beautiful. I used the cupcake liners for a wreath I made earlier this year, so the pattern might look familiar to you.
Supplies (affiliate links):
- FloraCraft® Make It: Fun® Foam Balls: 2″
- FloraCraft® Make It: Fun® Foam: 2.5″
- FloraCraft® Smooth Finish®
- Paper napkins
- Decoupage
- Paint brush
- Paint *optional
- Skewers *optional
Instructions:
I started by applying a thick layer of FloraCraft® Smooth Finish® to each of the foam balls I am using for this projects. The putty-like material will get down inside the foam holes and act as a filler. I stuck a wooden skewer into each foam ball to hold it while it sets. Once the Smooth Finish drys completely, lightly sand with a fine grit sandpaper.
The paper napkin has three layers. Peel the top layer off that has the floral pattern on it. Cut small pieces of the paper napkin and glue to the foam balls using decoupage and a paint brush by layering the napkin. By cutting small pieces of the pattern napkin, you will prevent bubbles and folds. I placed the foam balls back onto the skewers to let them dry completely.
I painted some of the foam balls using this acrylic paint to break up the floral pattern. I placed the decorative balls into a wire basket I had in my kitchen. I just love how this looks!
These Floral Decoupage Decorative Balls are an easy craft to freshen up your home. This would also be great to decorate for each holiday!
