Hello there! If you have followed me for awhile you know that I love flowers and floral decor. Today, I am sharing this Easy to Make Hydrangea Ball that is just great for decorating your home for any time of year. Made with a large foam ball and faux hydrangea floral, this artificial bouquet is just beautiful and will last a very long time. You can display the hydrangea ball in multiple ways and it will work for any home.
Supplies (affiliate links):
- FloraCraft® Make It: Fun® Foam Balls: 8″
- Design it:® Wire Cutters
- Green Hydrangea Picks
- Ribbon (optional)
Instructions:
You will definitely need a pair of wire cutters for this craft project. It will make things so much easier.
I started by cutting each individual blooms off of the stems. For the 8″ foam ball I used 10 of green hydrangea picks that I bought at Hobby Lobby. They were located in the floral accents department in the store. There also are larger 10″ and 12″ foam balls available on www.makeitfuncrafts.com.
Start by placing the stems into the foam ball and work your way around until the foam ball is completely covered. You will want to overlap the petals for fullness and so that you cannot see any of the ball. This isn’t difficult but it does take awhile, so put on your favorite tv show or movie and craft away. I turned Pandora on and it was actually quite relaxing.
You can use this Easy to Make Hydrangea Ball as a centerpiece for the dining table, mantle, or you could hang it on a window frame. If you choose to hang it up you will need a piece of ribbon. Hot glue it to the foam ball to secure it in place. The hydrangea picks come in several different colors. The green ones I used have hints of purple on the petals. I just love how beautiful it is.
Thanks for letting me share my Easy to Make Hydrangea Ball. How would you incorporate the hydrangea ball into your home decor?

Love this idea! I’ve already got hydrangeas that can be repurposed to make these decorative balls. Thanks for the inspiration!
