Hello there! I can’t believe we are already taking about Valentine’s Day but I am not going to lie, this is my favorite holiday. I love the pretty red and pink colors, hearts, chocolates, flowers, and all the love. Today, I am sharing a super easy tutorial on how to make this adorable DIY Painted Valentine Treat Box. This treat box is great for giving chocolates, candy, toys, and more!
Supplies (affiliate links):
- Americana Acrylic Paint 2oz – Bubblegum Pink
- Americana Acrylic Paint 2oz – Poodleskirt Pink
- Americana Acrylic Paint 2oz – Sea Glass
- Americana Acrylic Paint 2oz – Titanium White
- Americana Acrylic Paint 2oz – Country Red
- Paper Mache Tall Square Box
- Wooden Heart Confetti
- Paint Brush Set
- Hot Glue Gun
Instructions:
The paper mache tall square box was purchased at Hobby Lobby and the Wooden Heart Confetti was bought at Target. I did include Amazon links above to similar products.
I started by painting the inside and outside of the paper mache square box and lid using a large paint brush to apply one coat of Americana Acrylic Paint in the color Country Red. I really like this red color because it is not a bright red and has an orangish hue.
I used a small paint brush to paint shapes and patterns onto the wooden heart confetti. I used Country Red, Sea Glass, Poodleskirt Pink, White and Bubblegum Pink Americana Acrylic Paints. DecoArt just released 9 new Acrylic Paint colors that were selected based on current color trends. You can see the colors and find out more information about DecoArt’s 2017 NEW PRODUCTS HERE. I just love this color palette and it is perfect for Valentine’s Day. One tip I have when painting polka dots is using the rounded end of a paint brush handle for perfect dots every time.
Finally, I used a hot glue gun to glue the painted wooden heart confetti to the painted paper mache box.
I stuffed some red tissue paper inside of the DIY Painted Valentine Treat Box for a filler. I filled a plastic treat bag with chocolate candy because everyone loves chocolate on Valentine’s Day, right?! Then, I tied the bag with a piece of bakers twine and added a sweet tag made from Crate Paper Heart Day Ephemera collection.
My daughter is going to take this DIY Painted Valentine Treat Box to her kindergarten teacher for the holiday. I just love how easy this box was to make and how pretty it looks! Don’t forget to stop by DecoArt and find out more about their 2017 NEW PRODUCTS!
