I am super excited to share these Boo-Tastic Halloween Ghosts with you all today! I just love fun and easy food crafts likes this one. These white chocolate strawberry ghosts are adorably scary. They are great for parties and classrooms. Plus, it’s a healthier alternative to traditional Halloween candy.
First, I started with only the best Driscoll’s strawberries. They are vibrant red, sweet and delicious. Truly the finest strawberries.
Next I dipped the strawberries into melted white chocolate and let dry on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Then, I added candy eyes using frosting gel and created mouths with the gel as well.
To make the strawberry ghosts even more scary, I made little brooms using twigs, raffia and twine found in the floral section at Michael’s. Then I placed the brooms through the top of the strawberries where the green stems are.
- 1 - 16 oz (1lb) container of Driscoll's Strawberries
- 1 - 12 oz bag of Wilton's White Melting Chocolate
- 1 package of candy eyes
- 1 tube of Wilson's Black Sparkle Gel
- Floral twigs
- Bag of brown raffia
- Black Twine
- Wash strawberries and lay out to dry on a towel.
- After the strawberries are dried, melt your white chocolate. I used a double boiler method.
- Fill lower pan with water to below level of top pan. Bring water to simmer, them remove from heat. Put Candy Melts candy in top pan and stir constantly without beating until smooth.
- Lay the strawberries on a baking sheet that has been lined with parchment paper to dry. While the covered strawberries are drying you can make the brooms.
- Cut floral twigs into 2 ½ inch lengths and raffia into 3 inch lengths. Gather broom fibers into a small, rough bundle. Loop twine around the bundle, but keep it loose. Slip twig into center of bundle. Adjust the twig and raffia to look like a broomstick. Tighten twine and tie a small knot.
- Once chocolate is set, press broomstick handles down into strawberries through top center of stems. Pipe a small amount of frosting to the back of candy eyes and attach to berries. Finally, use frosting gel to add a smile, a spooky mouth, fangs, or other fun ideas you have.
- These Boo-Tastic Halloween Ghosts are a great alternative to traditional candy.
This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Driscoll’s. The opinions and text are all mine.
