Happy Holidays y’all! I LOVE Christmas and a good chalky paint project. This year I am doing a modern rustic theme.
Today I am really excited to share my Chalky Paint Christmas Pitcher Vase. The holidays are such a fun and joyful time of year. I truly love decking the halls for the Christmas season. They brighten up the home and put a smile on my face whenever I look at all the decorations. This vase is beautiful and simple to make.
I am beyond thrilled to be apart of DecoArt’s Chrismas 2014 Chalky Finish Campaign. I use DecoArt paints for all of my painting projects and I just LOVE their chalky finish paints!
Let’s get to making this vase!
MATERIALS:
- Galvanized rustic pitcher
- Plaid Christmas ribbon
- DecoArt Chalkboard paint
- DecoArt Chalky Finish Paint in Lace
- Foam brushes
- Galvanized star ornament
- Tall berry stem
- Chalk
- Scissors
All supplies can be found at Michael’s Stores expect my scissors.
First, I started by painting the galvanized metal pitcher using DecoArt ‘s Americana Decor Chalky Finish Paint in Lace. It is a beautiful off white neutral color that will go with any decor. I used a small foam brush and applied two thin coats of paint to the pitcher, letting the first coat dry completely before applying the second coat. I love the chalky look! Americana Decor Chalky Finish paint is available in Michael’s in the wood and finishes aisle. Visit the DecoArt Chalky Finish website for more chalk paint ideas and inspiration.
After the pitcher was completely dry, I placed beautiful red berry stems inside. The stem was one big bundle so I used scissors to cut off the branches. This way I could trim the stems to fit in the pitcher better. The red berries really pop with the lace chalky paint.
I found this really cute galvanized star ornament in the middle aisle of Michael’s and knew I wanted to incorporate it somehow. I removed the plastic, paper and wood center of the ornament. I painted the inside wood piece using DecoArt Americana Chalkboard Paint. Using a piece of white chalk, I wrote the word JOY in the middle of the chalkboard wood piece. I love that the ornament already came with jute twine.
Then, I tied a bow around the top of the pitcher using a green, red and cream color plaid Christmas ribbon. I attached the star ornament to the ribbon before I tied the bow. I just love how colorful and pretty this pitcher vase turned out.
What do you think? I hope I have inspired you to create your own Christmas vase.
This vase would also be great to use for Christmas parties or even as a gift to someone you love.
