Chia Strawberry Lemonade is a refreshing and healthy summer drink recipe made with simple, real ingredients.
Have you ever tried chia drinks before? I have been making chia detox water for about three years now and really enjoy them. I wanted to make a summer drink recipe using chia seeds and this chia strawberry lemonade is definitely my new favorite sipper. This lemonade is great for when you want something more than water but not a heavy sugary drink.
This summer drink recipe is made with strawberries, lemons, honey, and chia seeds. Chia seeds are a super food that is gluten free and a good source of calcium and fiber. They are also supposed to help curb your appetite. When added to a glass of water they swell up and take on a gel like consistency. This lemonade is so refreshing and delicious. You will want to make this recipe all summer long!
- 6 cups water, divided
- 3 tablespoons chia seeds
- 2 cups strawberries with the stems removed
- 1 1/2 cups freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon freshly grated lemon zest
- 1/3 cup pure honey
- Start your base by mixing 2 cups of water and the chia seeds in a large container. Stir, and then set aside in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes or overnight. The chia seeds need to gel up before adding to the rest of the drink.
- Place the strawberries and 4 cups of the non chia seed water into a high-speed blender and blend until the strawberries are completely pureed. Add the lemon juice, zest and honey to the blender and blend for a few seconds until everything is well combined.
- Add the chia water to the lemonade and stir to combine. Taste and add more sweetener if needed.
- Transfer the chia strawberry lemonade to a pitcher and serve. The chia seeds may settle over time so make sure you give the lemonade a quick stir before serving if that happens. Garnish with a slice of lemon, strawberry and mint, if desired.
