Hands down my Mother In Law makes the best toffee ever! I look forward to eating it every Christmas. A few years ago she graciously gave me her recipe. Everyone I have given the toffee to absolutely LOVES it. I mean whats not to love? It has butter, sugar, chocolate and nuts in it. This is definitely for the sweet tooth’s out there.
- 1 pound butter
- 2 cups sugar
- 6 Hershey bars
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
- In a large pot on the stove top cook 1 pound butter and 2 cups sugar over medium heat until boiling,
- Boil until candy thermometer reaches between 300 and 310 or until caramel color (which is about 20 mins)
- Add 1/4 cup of chopped walnuts to the caramel mixture
- Pour the caramel into a 9 x 13 baking sheet with sides
- Layer 6 Hershey bars on top. Let melt and spread with a knife
- Add remaining 1/4 cup chopped walnut and press into chocolate
- Refrigerate over night and break apart with knife
