- Fabric – Menagerie Tapestry Metallic Midnight / Menagerie Champagne Metallic Mint
- Dishwasher Safe Decou-Page
- Glass Plates
- Paint Brush
- Scissors
Instructions:
I bought glass plates at the dollar store for $1 and I am using Rifle Paper Co. fabric. This would be a great project to use any scrap fabric you have laying around.
Place your plate in the center of the fabric. Start by cutting a outline on the fabric around the glass plates with a pair of scissors. It doesn’t have to be perfect because we will trim the edges later.
Turn the plate upside down. Use a paint brush to apply a layer of dishwasher safe decou-page. The decou-page will dry clear. You need to work quickly before the adhesive dries. I found out that if you place a small bowl upside down under the plate that it makes it easier to work with the plate.
Place the pre-cut fabric print side down and smooth well with your fingers. Use a paint brush to apply another layer of decou-page over the fabric. Let dry for at least two hours. Repeat the process for remaining plates. I used an x-acto knife to trim the edges.
These Decoupage Fabric Glass Plates turned out better than what I expected. They were so easy to make and I just love how they look. Since the fabric is on the back of the plates, these plates are safe to eat on. When it comes to cleaning them, even though I used dishwasher safe decou-page, I would recommended hand washing them and do not soak.
