Create a custom mouse pad with just a few inexpensive supplies and easy steps. This DIY Fabric Mouse Pad will bring tons of color and function to your office space.
Hello there! Has school started where you are already? My daughter started pre-k last Thursday. She only goes three hours day, but that’s enough for this mom. Anyway, today I am sharing how you can make your own DIY Fabric Mouse Pad. I am inspired by all the back to school supplies, so I just had to make something for my office. This easy to do project is a fun way to bring pops of color into your computer space. It’s also a great way to use up any fabric scraps you have on hand.
You guys, I love fun fabrics, but don’t know how to sew. So, I try and come up with no-sew craft projects, which is what this mouse pad is. That way I am still able to make pretty things with fabric.
Here are the supplies needed (affiliate links approved, thanks for supporting The Casual Craftlete)
- Fabric (I used Morning Walk Town Lake Fat Quarter Bundle by Leah Duncan)
- 8 inch round cork trivet (I bought mine at Wal Mart)
- Fabric Pencil
- Hot Glue Gun and glue sticks
- Scissors
Instructions:
Start by ironing the fabric. Next, lay the cork trivet onto the fabric with the pattern side face down. Use a pencil to trace a 1 inch border around the trivet. Then cut the fabric on the pencil markings. It doesn’t have to be perfect because you won’t see it.
Use a hot glue gun to glue a straight line around the bottom edge of the trivet. Then carefully pull tight on the fabric and stick it to the glue. It works best if you work in small section so the hot glue doesn’t dry while you are working. I found that the fabric lays better if you fold and tuck it.
Allow the hot glue to completely dry before using.
You guys, that’s it. How super simple and cute is this DIY fabric mouse pad?! I am loving the bright colors and fun pattern of this fabric. This mouse pad would be great for any teenager, kid or parent to use in their computer space. I love adding fun pops of color and an easy DIY project to any space when I can. What do you think? Enjoy!
