Create a DIY Faux Fur Footstool in under an hour. You can customize the stool to fit into your own home decor to enjoy a cozy and relaxing environment.
I have been looking online for a long time for an ottoman to go in my living room but I just haven’t really found one that I liked. Today, I am going to show you how you can make your own DIY Faux Fur Footstool with a few simple steps. The best part is that you can make the stool to fit into your home. This footstool can be used in the living room or even a nursery. The super soft faux fur really makes you want to put your feet up and relax.
Supplies (affiliate links):
- 18″ round piece of wood (I found mine pre-cut at Lowes.)
- 1 piece of 4″ thick slab of high density foam
- staple gun and 1/2″ staples
- 4 short wood legs
- 4 leg mounting plates
- Wood Stain and paint brush
- Glue
- Serrated knife
- Drill and drill bit slightly smaller than the diameter of the screw on the table legs
- 1/2 yard of faux fur fabric (I bought mine on Etsy here)
- Fabric scissors
- Marker
I bought the foam piece at JoAnn and the faux fur fabric from Etsy. All of the other supplies were purchased at Lowes.
Instructions:
My husband worked in an upholstery shop when he was in high school so this project is well made and takes no time to complete.
I started by staining the wooden legs using Minwax stain in the color dark walnut. I used a paint brush to apply one coat, then let dry completely. This is the same stain we used on our IKEA tv console project.
We placed the pre-cut round wood circle on top of the foam piece and used a marker to trace around the wood.
Next, we used a serrated knife to cut the foam piece along the traced circle we made with the marker.
We used Gorilla glue to glue the wood and foam piece together. This will secure the two pieces together to insure the cushion is solid.
Use a staple gun to secure the faux fur fabric to the wood piece all along the edges. Work on opposite sides and compress the foam slightly so that the fabric stays tight. Use scissors the trim the overhang close to the staples.
Finally, drill the plates into the bottom of the wood piece and screw the legs in.
I really love how this DIY Faux Fur Footstool turned out and looks in our living room. It is so soft and comfortable. I hope this tutorial has inspired you to create your own.
