Create a DIY Hope Wall Hanging Banner with fun craft materials that can be customized for your space.
Hello there! Today, I am sharing a fun and trendy wall art idea that I thought is appropriate for this time of year. This wooden DIY Hope Wall Hanging Banner is made with paint, vinyl, and modern fabric. This banner sign can be customized for any space in your home and is a fun little weekend craft project.
Supplies (affiliate links):
- Wooden Banner (Hobby Lobby)
- Paint
- Electronic Cutting Machine + Tools
- Vinyl and Transfer Tape
- Fabric
- Pom Pom Ribbon
- Hot Glue Gun
- Scissors
Instructions:
I started by painting the banner with several coats of white paint until the board was completely covered. Make sure to allow each coat of paint to dry before applying additional coats. I use a piece of fine grain sandpaper to lightly sand in between each coat.
Next, open Circut Design Space. I am using the font Blackout. I sized the text to approximately 6 x 7 inches to fit on the wood banner. Then, send it to the machine to cut the vinyl. *When you set the Circut to cut vinyl I recommend the blade to be set at 2 and the speed at 5. You may want to slow the speed down to 2 to ensure the cut is cut smooth and even with no tears. I set the blade at 2 because this vinyl is thicker than normal. After the text has been cut on vinyl, you will need to weed and remove the negative space. Next, cut a piece of transfer tape to fit over the vinyl text. Place the text in the center of the banner and use the scraper tool to adhere the vinyl. Carefully remove the transfer tape.
I cut a piece of fabric to fit on the bottom of the banner. I made it so that there is about an inch of overlap on the back. I used a hot glue gun to glue the fabric to the back of the banner. Then, I hot glued pom pom ribbon to the bottom of the banner over the fabric. I ended up using a mint color pom pom ribbon because I thought there was enough white on the banner.
The banner can be customized to fit your style. Add a different font, or fabric, and change the paint color and vinyl. What would your banner say?
Finally, I made a yarn pom pom and embroidery floss beaded tassel to add some extra cuteness to the wall banner.
I thought this DIY Hope Wall Hanging Banner would be appropriate to make with the way things are in the world/life and with Easter coming up. One of my favorite verses in the Bible is ‘rejoice in hope’ (Romans 12:12). It gives me assurance that things are going to work out for good.
