Hello there!  Lately, I have been trying to make my home more cozy specially in the winter months.  Have you heard of the concept hygge (pronounced hue-guh) ?  It is a Danish word used when acknowledging a feeling or moment, whether alone or with friends, at home or out, ordinary or extraordinary as cozy, charming or special.  That sounds amazing, right?!  Today, I am sharing a simple project to add a little hygge to your home.  This DIY Wooden Hairpin Leg Tray can be used as a breakfast in bed tray, for reading or working, a laptop table, and more!

Instructions:

I had my husband cut a piece of pine wood into a 22 inch x 14 inch wood square.  Most local lumber stores will cut boards for you if you don’t have a saw.

I started by painting the board using two coats of Americana Decor Satin Enamels Paint 8oz in the color Warm White.  Let the paint dry in between coats and lightly sand.  Set aside and let dry completely.  I really like the satin enamels paints because they are easy to use and the finish is nice and smooth.

The hairpin legs I am using for the tray are raw steel.  I painted the legs with a coat of metal primer to pre-treat the metal to prevent and block rust formation.  Let dry completely.

Next, I used a paint sprayer that I filled with Americana Decor Satin Enamels in Classic Black to spray over the prepared hairpin legs.  The paint sprayer is great to use with metal because you get full coverage and no brush marks.

Finally, I fastened the painted hairpin legs on the bottom of the tray with screws.

This DIY Wooden Hairpin Leg Tray can be used as a laptop table or breakfast tray.  My daughter uses it to do her homework on.  Whatever you use the tray for, you will have a cozy and comfortable experience.
