Hello there! This time of year, I can never have enough decorations. I’ve been wanting a fall wood sign for awhile now so I thought I would make my own and save some money. This Easy To Make Fall Wood Sign has just a few simple steps and is great for decorating your home all autumn long. I paired it with a fabric bunting banner to display in my dining room and love how it turned out!
Supplies (affiliate links):
- Americana Decor Chalky Finish Paint 8oz – Heirloom
- Americana Decor Chalky Finish Paint 8oz – New Life
- 13 inch by 13 inch Wood Board
- Vinyl Stencil
- Paint Brush
- Sand Paper
Instructions:
I had my husband cut a piece of pine wood into a 13 x 13 inch wood square. I believe most local lumber stores will cut boards for you too.
I started by painting the board using one coat of Americana Decor Chalky Finish Paint 8oz in the color Heirloom. This will be the color of the word fonts. Let dry completely.
I purchased the design ID #93417 from the Silhouette Design Store. I sized the image to fit on a 12 x 12 inch mat. I sent the image to my Silhouette Cameo to cut the vinyl. Then used a weeding tool to weed the negative space of the vinyl image. Next, cut a piece of transfer tape to fit over the vinyl text. The best opaque transfer tape is this one from Expressions Vinyl. It sticks so much better and is of higher quality.
I lightly painted over the vinyl transfer using Americana Decor Chalky Finish Paint 8oz in the color New Life with a small paint brush.
Once the paint was completely dry, I removed the vinyl using a weeding tool. I used a piece of sand paper to distress the sign. This is where you can make the piece really yours. Every sign turns out different and has its own unique look.
I love this phrase and how this Easy To Make Fall Wood Sign turned out! You can display the sign anywhere in your home, on your porch, or even hang it on the wall.
