My seven year old daughter, Ellie, loves Valentine’s Day. The girly colors, sweet treats, and getting to make a creative card box is something she looks forward to every year. So, when DecoArt announced their new product, Galaxy Glitter, we knew that we had to make something for the sweetheart holiday. And what’s better than an easy craft that goes with a cheesy Valentine card?

How To Make Easy Glitter Heart Hair Clips for Valentines
Step 1: Start by gathering your supplies. We chose Galaxy Glitter paints in the colors Clear Ice Comet, Pint Cosmos, Supernova Berry and Ultraviolet for our Valentine craft. We also used matching base coats with American Acrylics in Snow White, Bubblegum Pink, Magenta, and Purple Pizzazz. I bought the small wooden hearts last year at Target but you should be able to find some similar online or at a craft store.
Step 2: Use a small paint brush to apply a thin layer of paint to the wooden hearts using the Americana Acrylics for a base coat. Allow the paint to dry before applying addition coats for full coverage, if needed.
Step 3: Once the base coats are dry, apply matching Galaxy Glitter paints. The more coats of Galaxy Glitter you add, the more glitter will be on your project.
This is a great DIY Valentine craft to let the kids paint, have fun, and be creative.
Step 4: Use a strong clear adhesive glue to secure the painted hearts to metal hair clips. Allow the glue to dry overnight.

Step 5: After printing the card, use a X-Acto knife (parents) to cut a small slit in the card. Place the clip through the cut and secure the clip.
My daughter is going to give these kids valentines to her girl friends in her class. Not only are these cute Valentines cards but the ones receiving them can wear the hair clips all year long.
