Learn How To Make Scented Wax Melts to burn safely in a decorative warmer to add fragrance to your home.
Wax melts or tarts are scented chunks of wax. They are placed into decorative warmers, also called tart-burners, where the heat gently melts the wax and releases the fragrance. The scent lasts anywhere from several hours to several days.
Supplies (affiliate links):
- Natural Soy Wax Flakes
- Coconut Oil
- Essential Oils (I am using Lavender and Sage)
- Silicone Mold
- Crayon *optional
Instructions for How To Make Scented Wax Melts:
Place 1 cup soy wax and 1 tablespoon coconut oil in a microwavable bowl. Microwave in 30 second increments, stirring in between, until the supplies are melted. I am using a purple crayon to color my wax. This step is optional. If you use a crayon, remove the paper and place it in the bowl with the wax and coconut oil and melt.
Stir in 20 to 30 drops of essential oils into the melted colored wax. For this recipe, I am combining 20 drops of lavender and 10 drops of sage. I really like this combination for this time of year but you can use your favorite essential oils to fragrant the wax.
Finally, pour the wax mixture into a silicon mold and allow to harden overnight. Once they harden, pop them out of the mold. The wax color will lighten while it hardens. I was able to get 20 flower shaped melts from this recipe.
