I’m sharing the design plans for my Modern Traditional Living Room as part of the One Room Challenge for Week 2.
The best part about doing a room makeover is coming up with a design plan. I will be decorating our living room from scratch since we recently moved and have no furniture or furnishings for this space. For our 1970’s split level living, I want to do a modern traditional style. I love mixing different designs together to create a cohesive area.
I have found a few inspirational pictures on Pinterest and Instagram with the vibe that I am going for.
This mid century modern living room has a bright, clean look with perfect vintage touches. Casual, boho chic space filled with texture, soothing colors and a natural cozy feel.
This next room inspiration is both cozy and eclectic with the accessories in this space. White walls with contrasting black windows. mixing metal and wood furniture and round and rectangular pieces.
Finally, my favorite inspiration is this modern traditional living room. I love everything in this space and want to recreate this look that fits my style and budget.
All of these looks are calm and cozy but have a very inviting feel. The walls are white which brings in lots of brightness. The details are in the furniture and accessories.
Here are a couple of mood board designs that I have made to show the vision for my modern traditional living room.
I want to keep the furniture very neutral but interesting at the same time. Let’s talk about that amazing couch! I actually ordered it before we moved because I fell in love with it. I scored an awesome deal when World Market had its friends and family discount. Guys, I seriously can’t say enough good things about this couch. Also, I ordered the chairs from Target and they should arrive next week. My daughter and I tested one out in the store and it was super comfy.
I will bring in a little color with accessories and by color I mean blue. When I try to decorate, I look in my closet to see what colors I wear the most. For me, I wear a lot of gray, black and blue clothing so that is what is reflected in this design. You want to fill the room with pieces that speak to you, that you love, and won’t get tired of.
Next week I will be sharing the progress of the room and a couple of re-purposed projects. I am planning on using a couple of decor pieces that I already have and update them with paint.
