Create a Painted Grain Sack Burlap Vase for decorating this Christmas. Great for floral arrangements, ornaments, small trees and more. This easy to make craft is a great way to bring a touch of country charm Home for Christmas.
Hello there! Today I am SO super excited to be joining in with Hometalk.com and CountryLiving.com as well as many other bloggers to bring you new creative Christmas ideas that are perfect for your home. This is a home and garden blog hop and today I am sharing how you can make this very easy painted grain sack burlap vase. I just love the look of grain sacks and they are quite easy to make at home. I placed a small artificial tree along with some pine cones inside my painted vase for a small holiday display. I added vintage lace and a hand stitched star to complete the tree. Make sure you read the entire post and at the end is more inspiration from some of your favorite bloggers.
As many of you know, I love good auction and antique finds and love to display them in my home. I am a traditional red and green fan for Christmas. This year I thought I would decorate my home with some of my vintage finds and make a rustic looking craft to go along with the theme. I just love how this painted grain sack burlap vase turned out!

Instructions:
First, I started by taping lines for the grain sack look. I used four pieces of washi tape. Grain sacks typically have one large stripe down the center and two smaller stripes on each side.
Next, I used a foam brush to apply a coat of Americana Acrylic Paint in Country Red of course. I found dabbing with the brush helps get into burlap. Then, just let your paint dry before removing the tape. My premade burlap vase has a thick layer of plastic inside. If yours does not, you might want to put a piece of paper underneath where your are painting. This will just protect the paint from getting onto other surfaces.
And that’s it! How do you think my painted grain sack burlap vase turned out? I just love how that tiny Charlie Brown looking Christmas tree just fits right in there. It is just the right amount of country and it’s SO cute!
