Hello there! Today I am sharing a super cheesy pun card for Valentine’s Day. This DIY You Are Spec-tacular Card is perfect for the nerd or hipster in your life. Or, in mine and my husband’s case, someone who wears glasses. This card is easy to make and I have provided a free printable later in this post so you can make your own.
For this card I used:
- Wooden Glasses embellishment
- Paint
- Scrapbook paper
- Pre-made cards
- You Are Spec-tacular printable
First I started by painting the wooden glasses with acrylic paint that matches the scrapbook paper I chose. I bought the wooden embellishments at Michael’s.
While the paint was drying, I printed the “YOU ARE SPEC-TACULAR” on a piece of 6 x 6 scrapbook paper. I have made an easy printable later in this post with instructions. I used My Mind’s Eye Cut & Paste Flair paper pad. I really love the pink and red ombre of the paper above.
I removed the scrapbook paper from the white printer paper and cut the edges to fit onto a pre-made card. I keep a couple boxes of pre-made cards on hand to use for craft projects.
Then I adhered the scrapbook paper and wood glasses to the pre-made card using adhesive tape. You could use a glue stick or another form of adhesive if you’d like.
That’s it! I wanted the cards to be super simple but you can add more embellishments if you would like to.
The inspiration for this card came from a card I found at Paper Source. I LOVED the card and was going to order it, but it was sold out. I really really wanted the card, so my only option was to make a DIY version.
I actually had all the materials I needed to make this card in my stash of supplies.

After you have printed the design on computer paper, tape the corners of a piece of 6 x 6 scrapbook paper in the square I have provided on the printable. Then print for the second time. Remove the scrapbook paper from the computer and trim to fit a standard 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 pre-made card.
