The Holiday season is upon us. Which means lots of parties and lots of food. Thanksgiving is the ultimate foodie holiday! I wanted to show you a pretty rustic place card that doubles as a greeting card. As many of you know I LOVE creating with paper and what better way then by making a holiday card!
This place card/greeting card took me about 30 minutes to make. I did use several techniques and tools to make this card. I just love pairing rustic with sophisticated. It really shines with all the add gold details.
Material I used:
- Cardstock
- Paper cutter
- Cricut machine with the doodlebug charm cartridge
- Sizzix Texture Boutique embosser and wood grain embossing folder
- Feather
- Gold spray paint
- Ink pad
- Eyelets and a eyelet tool kit
- Gold and sparkle pens
- Ribbon
- Twine
First I started by making a 4 x 4 card out of white cardstock. Then I took a piece of brown cardstock and placed it into my wood grain embossing folder and ran it through the embossing machine.
Next I used my Cricut machine using the Doodlebug Charm cartridge to cut a 3 inch leaf using white cardstock. Then I stamped the cutout leaf with a burnt orange color ink pad.
Then I took a artificial white feather and spray painted the tip using a can of metallic gold spray paint.
After the leaf and feather had time to dry, I adhered them to the top of the brown cardstock using adhesive tape.
Next I cut a small piece of white cardstock to use for the placement of the name. I add two small eyelets to each side of the paper using a eyelet kit. Then I wrapped some gold twine through the eyelets.
I add some orange ribbon and secured the ribbon and twine to the back of the wood grain embossed brown paper with adhesive tape.
I adhered the brown cardstock to the white cardstock then added a simple message inside the card.
I love all the different elements to this card. So simple yet it makes a statement. All the gold touches really makes this card shine.

Such a clever dual purpose turkey! My fav feature is the wood grain embossing. Love it! I am visiting via Lovely Ladies Linky from over at http://www.ritewhileucan.com where I gush over all things stationery and the lost art of letter writing. I think you might enjoy it.
