Hello there!  Today, I am excited to share something that is new to me.  This was only my second time doing a social artworking canvas and let me tell you they are so fun!  I am not a free-hand artist at all but DecoArt’s Social Artworking program makes it easy to create a beautiful painted canvas with no skills required.  I am going to show you How to Throw a Social Artworking Paint Party that is fun and easy.  Grab your friends and let’s get started!

So, you may have heard of paint and sip parties and that is exactly what social artworking is.  This program provides you and your guests with all the supplies, materials, and instructions you need.  

The Social Artworking Party Planner allows you to pick a design from hundreds of themes, lets you choose how many people will be attending your paint party, and provides a list of supplies such as canvases, easels, brushes, paint and more.  

We choose this Be Brave design that is fun, colorful, and has a trendy arrow design.  The social art working program recommends a 12 x 12 inch canvas and approximately 2 hours paint time for this specific design.

Once you have chosen a design, a box from DecoArt Social Artworking will come to your house.  The design we picked includes canvases, brush sets, grey transfer paper, canvas art acrylic paints, pattern packs, design instructions, reusable patterns, and design images.  I did use mason jars for water to rinse the paint brushes, pencils, and small foam plates to pour the acrylic paints onto.

The party was held at a friend of mine’s beautiful home.  She has a large space in her house that is perfect for crafting and painting.  She taped down kraft paper to protect her dinning table.  I setup all of the supplies and materials before the guest arrived.  It didn’t take any time at all.  I also made a little gift bag for each guest just to thank them for coming to the party.  Once the guests arrived we got started right away.

Following the instructions provided, we started by painting the entire canvas by mixing two paint colors together.  You need to let the canvas to dry completely before moving on.  While we waited for the paint to dry we enjoyed fresh fruit, homemade muffins, and coffee.  The party was held at brunch time and it was just the perfect snack.

Next, we taped down the piece of transfer paper dark side down.  Then, place the reusable pattern in the center of the canvas and trace the design with a pencil.

The next few steps are painting and filling in the pattern with the different paint colors.  The traced design makes it easy to stay inside the lines.

The finally step was to use a black paint marker to trace over all of the lines.  Everyone loved using the marker and loved the end result.

Even though everyone painted the same design, each canvas is different.  You can customize and do your own thing if you want.  The whole idea behind social artworking is getting people together to have a good time and paint a canvas that can be displayed at their home.
