Hello there! It’s safe to say that fall is my favorite time of year. I tend to decorate as early as I can for the season. This year I am going with a neutral theme and These Vintage Inspired Chalky Paint Pumpkins are just perfect. I have displayed the artificial pumpkins along with greenery, pine cones and acorns in a large milk glass bowl. This beautiful centerpiece is just perfect on my dinning room table. It would also look great on a mantle or buffet.
SUPPLIES:
- Americana Decor Chalky Finish Paint in Vintage, Heritage, Primitive, Yesteryear, and Relic
- Small artificial floral pumpkins
- Paint brush
I choose five colors of DecoArt Americana Decor Chalky Finish Paint for this craft project. They are, Vintage, Heritage, Yesteryear, Primitive, and Relic. I think these colors have vintage inspired names. That is why I have named this project Vintage Inspired Chalky Paint Pumpkins. What do you think? I am pretty close?
I bought five floral pumpkins at my local craft store. They had a stem coming out of the bottom so you can place them in floral arrangements. The stems actually came in handy when painting the pumpkins. I left the stems in while painting each pumpkin a different color. This allowed me to paint the entire pumpkin all at once. When I was done painting the pumpkins, I placed the stem inside a coffee cup to allow to dry. This made the painting process go much faster. I gave each pumpkin two coats of the chalky finish paint.
Once the paints had dried, I actually removed the stems of the pumpkins. They were easy to pull out.
I had a large milk glass bowl that I have in my collection at home at thought the chalky paint pumpkins would look great displayed inside. I added artificial greenery, pine cones and acorns inside the bowl. Then I placed the vintage inspired chalky paint pumpkins on top.
What do you think? I loved how this turned out. You could always leave the stems on and make a beautiful floral arrangement. Which color is your favorite?

CAN THIS BE DONE WITH REAL PUMPKINS?
Hi Donna! You can use chalky finish paint on real pumpkins. The texture might be different since real pumpkins are smooth. And you might need to add a few coasts of paint if your pumpkins are orange. Thanks for stopping by.
